Repurpose a YouTube video into TikTok clips

A long YouTube video already contains the raw material for weeks of short-form posts. The work is turning it into something that fits TikTok: vertical framing, a fast opening, captions and a length that suits the platform. Doing that manually for each clip is why most creators never get around to it.

Step 1: bring in the YouTube video

Open Clip Studio and paste the YouTube URL into the link field, then fetch it. You can also upload a file if you have the original. The same field accepts Twitch, Kick and TikTok links.

Step 2: choose a vertical format and clip length

Pick Portrait (9:16), the shape used by TikTok, Reels and Shorts. There are also platform presets for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, each at 1080 by 1920. Set how many clips you want and a minimum and maximum duration; short-form platforms differ on what works, so you set the range rather than accepting a fixed length.

If you also want a landscape or square version of the same moment, turn on multi-aspect render and the job produces extra files in 16:9, 1:1 or 4:5 alongside the vertical one.

Step 3: let it find the moments

The video is transcribed with Whisper and an AI model analyzes the transcript to select the segments most worth cutting. For a tutorial, that might be a single tip; for an interview, a story or a strong opinion. You can add a prompt to steer it.

Step 4: captions and finishing touches

Captions burned in and synced word by word, with your choice of font, colors, size and position.
Optional music under the original audio, from the built-in library or your upload.
Your logo as a watermark on every clip.
Optional auto-mute for profanity.

Step 5: caption, schedule and post

Send the clips to Drafts. The AI can write a caption for each platform in your brand voice, and each platform keeps its own caption and title. Schedule them for TikTok, and for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X or LinkedIn if you want the same clip in more places. What to keep in mind

Clips are chosen from what is said, so videos that are mostly music or silent footage are not a good match. Always preview the output before publishing, since you may want a different segment than the first pass. Repurposing works best on content you own or are licensed to reuse.
