Novam Studio / Auto captions for shorts
Auto captions for Shorts, Reels and TikTok
Short-form video is often watched with the sound off, so captions decide whether someone understands your clip in the first second. Typing and timing them by hand is slow, and a caption file that is not burned in can be lost when you upload to a different app.
In Novam Studio, captions are part of how clips are made. They are generated from the transcript and rendered into the video itself.
How the captions are generated
When Clip Studio processes a video, it transcribes the speech with Whisper, which gives timing for individual words. Captions are synced word by word from that transcript and burned onto each clip at render time. Because they are part of the picture, they appear on every platform without extra upload steps.
Style controls
- Font: choose from a list that includes Impact, Bebas Neue, Anton, Montserrat Bold, Oswald Bold, Bangers and DM Sans Bold.
- Text color and outline color, so captions stay readable on bright or busy footage.
- Size from 40 to 120 points.
- Position on the frame.
- A live caption preview on a 9:16 frame before you start the job.
- A single switch to turn captions off if you want a clean clip.
Formats for every short-form platform
Captions are rendered for the shape you choose. There are presets for Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts at 1080 by 1920, YouTube at 1920 by 1080, and square 1080 by 1080. Multi-aspect render also offers 4:5 portrait at 1080 by 1350, so one job can give you a file for each placement with captions already on it.
Captions plus the rest of the clip
Captions are one step in a pipeline that also finds the moments worth clipping, can mute profanity at the word level, can lay a music bed under the audio, and can stamp your logo. The result goes to Drafts, where the AI can write the post caption (a different thing from the on-video captions) for each platform in your brand voice, and then to the scheduler for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X and LinkedIn.
Honest limits
Automatic transcription is not perfect. Names, jargon and heavy accents can be misheard, so skim the clip before posting. Captions follow the speech in the recording; they are not a translation tool.
Try it on your own footage. Create an account, connect a platform and run your first long video through Clip Studio.
